About the College

      The Sarvodaya Education Society is an eminent trust of Morbi devoted to promote education in this area. It was established in the year 1959 in Mumbai by the efforts of the philanthropists and the blessing of the Royal family of then Morbi State. The Royal family provided financial support and donated  land to establish educational campus near Nazar Bag Station. The chief aim of the trust was, and is, to extend secondary and higher education of science, commerce and arts to the young students of the rural and semi-rural region of Morbi. Earlier the students had to go to different places for higher studies.

Maharaja Shree Mahendrasinhji Science College is the only Government Grant-in-aid Science college in Morbi managed by sarvoday education society Morbi. Before 2015 when Morbi was not declared a district, M. M. Science College (Maharaja Shree Mahendrasinhji Science College) was the only Grant-in-aid college at taluka place in entire Saurashtra. It is one of the few colleges where all 15 teaching faculties are PhD, and most of faculties are recognised PhD guides of Saurashtra University. During the period of 2008 to 2012, 5 UGC sponsored Minor Research Projects were being carried out by the teachers, and were successfully completed within the period. The teachers of M. M. Science College (Maharaja Shree Mahendrasinhji Science College) have presented many research papers in various national and international seminars and conferences. Many research papers have been published in various peer reviewed journals and many articles are published in books. Many books have been published by various teachers of the college. In the year 2010 the college proudly hosted a state level seminar on Research in Physics.

NCC unit run by the college is a real feather in our cap. It offered invaluable service during the devastating earthquake in 2001. The NCC officer and cadets were felicitated by the then Union Sports Minister, Ms Uma Bharatiji. Every year NCC cadets participate in various state and national level camps and win various prestigious awards and medals. Apart from these the college actively carried out various government sponsored schemes such as Soil Testing, Saptdhara and SCOPE. During the pre-science time, many eminent doctors, engineers, professors and industrialists have studied in this college. Today also, the college regularly organize programmes on environment awareness, personality development, CCDC etc along with sports and other competitions. Recently in this college Innovation club has been run under Department of Education, Government of Gujarat.

The college was awarded ‘B’ grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2008.

M. M. Science College (Maharaja Shree Mahendrasinhji Science College) is recognised by UGC under section 2(f) and 12(B); and is affiliated to Saurashtra University, Rajkot.
